Ondřej Prosický, QEP

*1977, wildlife photographer, author, lecturer, tour guide, and above all a nature enthusiast

The author studied geology at the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague, and at the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. From journeys to active volcanoes and studies of remote national parks, he gradually moved into intensive wildlife photography. He now spends most of the year traveling and photographing nature.

In his work, he focuses on wildlife photography. His goal is to creatively capture animal behavior in their natural environment. During his travels, he has visited most regions of continental Europe, the South Atlantic, the Arctic, Africa, and Asia, and he regularly returns to tropical regions of Central and South America to photograph wildlife.

In the Czech Republic, beyond photography, he is actively involved in promoting wildlife and nature conservation and draws attention to the issues associated with the growing popularity of nature photography, not only in protected areas and national parks.

His clients include publishers, magazine editors, advertising agencies, and national park administrations. He sells his wildlife photographs through a range of stock photo agencies worldwide. Since 2006 he has collaborated with Canon Czech Republic, and in 2019 he switched to the Sony system. He regularly publishes his experience in articles (as a long-term contributor or editorial board member) and lectures.

Since 2006, he has personally organized photography workshops in the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Botswana, and Finland, attended by more than 1,400 photographers. Since 2022, he has also been cooperating with the travel agency Czech Photo Travel on photography tours around the world. He has held more than forty solo exhibitions, and among his greatest achievements is reaching the finals of the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. He has been a member of the Association of Professional Photographers of the Czech Republic since 2009.

In May 2011, the Federation of European Professional Photographers awarded Ondřej Prosický the title QEP (Qualified European Photographer), making him the first in the Wildlife Photography category. In the same year, he received the FEP European Landscape Golden Camera 2011 award in Brussels. His most recent accolades include nominations and top awards in competitions such as Czech Press Photo, Czech Nature Photo, GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and the Festival de l’Oiseau et de la Nature in France.
